We participated in the Grand Room tour. In the dining room, we were asked if we would like to see a little room with toys. Once we arrived to the room and had been separated from the group we were asked to leave because our child was making noise. We were told that it is very clearly stated that children are not recommended for the tours, but I have yet to find this info on the Castle Web site where I booked the tickets, the visitor center where we picked up the tickets, or your e-mail below. If we were such a distraction for the others on the tour, why not just kick us out in front of them? While on the tour, our tour guide was only able to answer questions by country name, This is from Italy. When asked, Where in Italy? She had no idea. At the Hearst Ranch and Winery station in the Visitor Center, we asked what time the winery closed, and were told 6pm. It closed at 4pm. As a California State tax payer, and a parent I feel that in an time when the State budget does not have the money to keep all State Parks open, money should be spent on those that are family friendly. The 1.5 million dollars being spent to restore the ceiling in the billiard room because people used to smoke in this room, should be put back into the State budget. It's been 80 years, is this really the time to be spending that kind of money on this project?
